My friend Steph doesn’t get manis…but despite this tragic fact I am still friends with her because she’s 100 shades of awesome and sends me pics of her “people’s nails”. Could these BE any more SMTM quality? LOVES!!!!! Smtm

Happy Memorial Day mani-acs!  This weekend isn’t just about honoring our troops and BBQs.  It’s the official kick-off to summer and you know what that means….put the darks away!!! You can “officially” wear white jeans and officially get dirty looks from me if I see you wearing a dark polish. I will accept red under limited (addiction) circumstances.  

So how did I kick off my summer mani?  I had this vision of getting Essie’s Barefoot & Topless because what says summer better than that? However, the shade was a little too light for my dark hands. (Remember I’m already pretty tan from my recent trip to Mexico). But I wanted to keep with the nude, sandy theme.  I want the beach ON my hands and IN my toes :)

I opted for Essie’s Brooch the Subject. It’s a darker, thicker nude, but I think it works perfectly for the look I’m going for.

Now onto my toes.  I ran into some friends on Friday and Julie put me to the test.  ”What’s on my nails?” she asked.  

“TOO EASY” I replied.  ”Bermuda Shorts.”  

“NOPE” she retorted.  ”Bermuda Shorts is discontinued!! It’s by Color Club.”

First I was very saddened by this news. Bermuda Shorts is a fabulous color and I sincerely hope Essie decides to bring it out of retirement.  But second, I was on a mission to find this Color Club dupe because there was absolutely no other color I would settle for after seeing Julie’s nails.

By some Memorial Day miracle I walked into Eastern Image Day Spa and they had Color Club. And they had Peace Out Purple!! A mani miracle!!

So while I did not get to the beach this weekend, I did get sand ON my nails and will have sand IN my toes next weekend with the Gator Girls in Montauk!
